War at Sea using Miniatures

Here is a recently completed project of mine, Avalon Hill's War at Sea using 1/6000 miniatures. Click on the pictures for larger images.

The first picture shows the Scharnhorst and Prinz Eugen. Notice the numbers on the rear...these are copied from the counters. Sadly, the German fleet had the label plate portion of the base removed, so the paper label I created is attached to the bottom of the base.

The second picture shows some of the Italian fleet. Two Littorio class battleships are in the foreground with an older BB and a Zara class cruiser in the background.

Notice that I had a very nice map printed out on a roughly 3' x 4' vinyl sheet for the game! It came out very nice.

Finally, we have a look at the Allied ships. In this view we have a Courageous class aircraft carrier, the HMS Rodney, a "convoy," an "R" class battleship, and a British heavy cruiser. I love the way these 1/6000 ships came out and having the counter info on the base is perfect! The underside of each ship has the ship's name...and includes the airstrike factor for carriers.

I will be running this game at the Los Angeles Strategicon convention during the evening on 9/4/10....so drop by if you are interested in a game. It plays quickly and I plan on dividing up the fleets to allow multiple players for this beer and pretzels classic!
